April Deweese is a trauma-informed personal trainer, plant-based nutrition specialist, and former national-level fitness competitor with over 30 years of experience in human performance.
She earned a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science from Illinois College, where she studied biology, psychology, and nutrition — a foundation that guided her career in fitness. After college, she competed at the national level as a bikini competitor and fitness model for over a decade. While she achieved physical success, the extreme training methods, restrictive diets, and supplement-heavy culture of the industry led to chronic inflammation, gut dysfunction, hormonal imbalance, and burnout.
Refusing to accept this as “normal,” April pursued advanced study in plant-based nutrition for disease prevention and reversal through Cornell University, combining this knowledge with decades of personal training experience to fully restore her health.
Today, she helps clients prevent chronic disease, rebuild their metabolism, gut health, hormones, and nervous system through evidence-based strength training, whole-food plant-based nutrition, and trauma-informed coaching — enabling them to build strength without sacrificing health.
I began my career with a degree in Exercise Science and went on to compete at the national level as a bikini competitor and fitness model. For years, I trained intensely and followed the extreme methods common in the fitness industry. Although my body looked strong, internally I was dealing with chronic inflammation, digestive issues, hormonal disruption, adrenal fatigue, and extreme stress.
Determined to heal, I studied plant-based nutrition through Cornell University and integrated it with my exercise science background and decades of coaching experience. This approach restored my health and completely transformed how I work with clients. Today, I help people build strength, energy, and vitality in a way that supports long-term health rather than breaking the body down.
As a personal trainer, I guide clients through an integrated, science-backed approach that supports the whole body through trauma-informed strength training and movement to build lean muscle, improve mobility, and safely release stored tension; whole-food, plant-based nutrition to support gut health, hormone balance, metabolic function, and lower inflammation; and nervous-system regulation and recovery to reduce stress, fatigue, and burnout while improving energy and focus.
